SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supervision of wellfield construction activities at an ISR uranium recovery operation north of Moorcroft, Wyoming. This includes the construction of new wellfields and associated infrastructure including trunk pipelines and laterals, header houses, power lines, roads, installation of down hole pumps and tubing, fencing etc. This position is also responsible for supervising well drilling and completion by contractors and the repair of wellfield facilities when required. Additional activities include but are not limited to; managing contractors, assisting with the planning of wellfields, supervising Wellfield Construction Technicians, keeping track of and ordering required equipment and supplies, completing required management reports and effectively working with other departments to maximize the recovery of uranium. A strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)

  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of the equipment, procedures and manpower necessary to effectively and safely install ISR wellfields and associated infrastructure.
  • Supervise the Wellfield Construction Technicians that include well cementers, heavy equipment operators, electricians, pulling unit operators etc. and ensure that workers are properly trained.
  • Keep track of equipment needs and required supplies and ensure they are ordered and delivered in a timely manner and assist with monetary budgets.
  • With assistance from the Maintenance Department, that equipment is properly maintained and repaired in a timely manner.
  • Maintain state of the industry knowledge in wellfield construction including piping systems and HDPE fusing equipment, valves, well cementing techniques, alarm systems etc. and convey information to employees.
  • Implement company safety and environmental requirements and assist with safety inspections. Review and maintain required written records and assist with the development of written standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Complete required management reports.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and a commitment to safety and environmental protection.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises the Pulling Unit Operators, Wellfield Construction Techs, Casing/Cementing Crews, and contractors involved with drilling operations or wellfield and infrastructure construction.

QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for this position an individual must be knowledgeable of the construction of uranium ISR wellfields and the associated infrastructure. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured by the company.
  • Ability to work productively and communicate effectively with contract drillers and other contractors, Wellfield Construction Technicians, Wellfield Operators, supervisor, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to read and write and perform basic math including multiplication and division.
  • Must have working knowledge of OSHA General Industry and Construction regulations especially as they relate to excavation safety, heavy equipment operation, power line installation, HDPE pipeline construction and welding.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma. A BS or AAS or a degree or certification from a technical institution preferred.
  • Ten to 15 years of experience directly supervising the construction of uranium ISR wellfields and associated infrastructure.
  • Alternatively, an individual could have less experience directly supervising the construction of uranium ISR wellfields and associated infrastructure if they have worked in a similar capacity at oil and gas operations, CBM operations, large mining operations or a related industrial setting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, company procedures, and memos.
  • Ability to write and maintain records and review contracts.
  • Ability to review and write operational procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and manage contractors.
  • Ability to deal with vendors in the specification and ordering of required supplies.

MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to use basic computer word processing and spreadsheet programs (i.e. Word, Excel, etc.).

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.’

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid class “A” driver’s license is required. A “CDL” driver’s license is desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards typically associated with field construction activities including excavation of ditches and valve stations, well installation and completion, pipeline construction, electrical system installation etc. The work activities predominantly include; low to moderate noise levels, moving equipment, wet surfaces, and uneven ground and facility equipment. The work environment is typically outdoors but indoor work is required on occasion to complete equipment assemblage and management duties. Therefore, on occasion the employee can be exposed to inclement weather including cold, hot, snow, rain, mud etc.
